Welcome!

Welcome to The Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP), an online survey system to collect, track, and disseminate data about the artistic lives and careers of former students who have trained at arts high schools, arts colleges, and conservatories, and arts schools and departments within comprehensive colleges and universities. SNAAP allows institutions, researchers, and arts leaders to look at the factors that most helped or hindered the career paths of former arts students, whether these alumni have chosen to work as artists or pursue other choices. SNAAP is an annual survey of alumni at specified stages following their institutionally-based arts training.

Information gathered through SNAAP will benefit arts training institutions, policy makers, and arts leaders, as well as parents and students considering arts training. The information gathered will provide a national profile of how artists prepare in this country and will allow for deepened understanding of what constitutes artistic success and contribution. In addition, data gathered through SNAAP can assist government, funding agencies and community leaders as they consider investments in the education, training and development of artists in their communities.

The 2009 Survey has Launched!
On November 16th, SNAAP sent the 2009 survey to  21,757 alumni of 54 arts education institutions!  If you received an e-mail invitation to participate, don’t hesitate to complete the survey. This year we invited alumni from the classes of 2004, 1999, 1994 and 1989. If you graduated from one of our 54 participating schools in one of those years, please let us know at snaap@indiana.edu if you did not receive an invitation.
